Parkway Pavilion Health & Rehabilitation Center, a Short–Term Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility located in Enfield, CT, is seeking an Enthusiastic and Passionate Infection Control Nurse to join our team!
The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, organize, develop and direct the facility infection prevention and control program in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and as may be directed by the Administrator and DNS, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.
Requirements
- Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years clinical experience in a hospital, nursing care facility or other related healthcare facility.
- Must possess a working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious disease, and aseptic technique to include standard transmission–based precautions.
- APIC Certification in infection prevention and control
- Must have a valid RN license in the state of CT
Infection Control
- Conducts surveillance using approved methodologies.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal agency regulations and with TJC standards with regard to all infection control activities.
- Investigates any infection outbreak to establish etiology, develop interventions and evaluate outcomes. Maintains required documentation of outbreak tracking.
- Provides general infection control orientation to all staff in coordination with the SDC.
- Provides job specific infection control orientation to all staff in coordination with the DNS.
- Provides mandated in–service education to all staff and collaborates with department managers in providing staff with specific infection control educational programs.
- Develops and initiates activities to monitor and evaluate Infection Control program to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develops policy and procedures that reflect program goals in consultation with the Medical Director and Department Directors.
- Oversees the communicable disease reporting process to appropriate state and local health agencies, as required.
- Consults with staff regarding communicable disease, need for immunization and isolation with consideration of the aging process, human growth and development, and cultural patterns; assisting as needed in the development of plan of care.
- Maintains professional competence through Infection Preventionist Certification and attendance in education programs in the specialty.
Coordinates annual Influenza Vaccination Program for residents and staff.
