CLOSING DATE: 22-08-2024

NCIMB, is teaming up with the Rowett Institute, University of Aberdeen, to develop novel designer probiotics targeting gut health. Your role will involve the screening and characterisation of potential probiotic strains from the NCIMB and Rowett collections. If required, you may be asked to be involved in other R&D projects. Starting date will be 01 October 2024.

Applicants should hold or expect to achieve a BSc / MSc (or equivalent) in biological sciences (or related discipline). It is essential that you have proven experience of common microbiological techniques. It is desirable if you have experience of culturing anaerobes / gut microbes.

The contract is project limited for 18 months however this may be extended with the expansion of our R&D services. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours), Monday to Friday.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Desire to learn and continually develop.
  • Attention to detail with a desire to continually improve processes.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and deliver results.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
  • Take ownership of tasks and complete them effectively and efficiently.
  • The ability to work effectively within a small team and with limited supervision.
  • Good knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001:2015 and cGMP) is desirable.
