Facility is looking for a full time locum to start immediately!

Specialty : Pathology

Start date : ASAP ; End date : Ongoing

Coverage type: Call + Clinic

SCHEDULE :

  • Dates of Coverage: Starting the end of June, ongoing
  • Schedule (Shifts and Hours): Mon through Fri., 8:00am – 5:00pm
  • Call Schedule: Weekly (alternate week), start at Friday 5:00 pm, finish at next Friday 8:00am
  • Call Ratio: every other week

JOB DESCRIPTION :

  • Practice Setting (Free–Standing Pathology Lab/Hospital–Based Pathology Lab): Hospital based
  • Reason for Coverage: Gap in coverage, as other pathologist is leaving for another opportunity
  • What Type(s) of Certification Does Your Laboratory Hold (CLIA, CAP, etc.)? CLIA
  • Approx. Number of Cases Read Per Day: 35–50– volume will be split with 2 pathologists
  • What Will Be the Locum Tenen Physician s Responsibility for the Clinical Lab (Blood Bank, etc.)? Yes supervise clinical laboratory, need AP/CP certified pathologist
  • Will the Locum Provider Be Responsible for Grossing Their Own Specimens? Yes
  • Will the Locum Provider Be Cutting Their Own Frozen Sections on the Cryostat? Yes
  • How Many Physicians in the Group? Only 1, typically 2
  • How Many Histotechnologists? 4
  • How Many Pathology Assistants? 0
  • How Many Cytotechnologists? 0
  • Will the Locum Tenens Physician be Required to Supervise Other Healthcare Providers? No
  • Will Other Pathologists Be Present During the Locum's Coverage? Yes
  • Type of Cryostat: Thermo Shandon
  • Type of Microscope: Nikon
  • Cytology Proficiency Exam Required for GYN Cytology? No GYN cytology specimen
  • Method of Preparation? Cytospin
  • Required Anatomic Pathology Procedures:
    • Surgical Pathology, GI Pathology, GU Pathology, Neuropathology, Dermatopathology, Hematopathology (Bone Marrow, Lymph Nodes) Interpretation of Bone Marrow Aspirate/bx, Cytology, Autopsy
  • Required Clinical Pathology Procedures:
    • Hematology, Microbiology, Chemistry/Serology, Blood Bank

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS :

  • Board Certified/Truly Board Eligible– Required
  • MI license at time of submission– Highly preferred – need to be able to get it by end of June
  • Covid Vaccinated– Required
  • Minimum of 2 weeks per month availability– Required
  • Must be able to take call– Required
