Are you looking to kick off a scientific career producing proteins for pioneering life science research?

Would you thrive in a fast paced, team–oriented role?

We are looking for a microbiology–oriented technician to support the fermentation team.

The role is lab based and involves growing and maintaining bacterial cultures, carrying out weekly protein production runs, and assisting in the routine running of the labs. You will be fully trained on the job and a senior scientist will direct your day–to–day duties.

Our expectations

In this role, you will be able to

  • Follow standard protocols to grow and maintain cultures of anaerobic bacteria
  • Follow directions and keep accurate lab records
  • Take ownership of fermentation runs, understanding the importance of reporting method deviations
  • Maintain fermenters and other lab equipment
  • Manage your time between fermentation duties and assisting with day–to–day running of the labs

About You

  • You have either a level 5 apprenticeship, BSc or MSc degree in a science related subject, or you have A levels (or equivalent) in Biology and Chemistry related subjects, with some lab technician experience
  • You adapt to changing priorities and are able to multi–task
  • You have a willingness to learn new skills
  • You are dependable and work cooperatively as part of a diverse team
  • You communicate clearly and reliably with colleagues across the company
  • You organise and manage your own time and workload
