We are recruiting for a Microbiology Specialist at our site in Telford, Shropshire. Microbiology Specialist Role Overview: Opportunity to join the Quality team in a fast–paced environment on a 4 on 4 shift pattern (days) in the Microbiology Lab, as a Microbiology Specialist. Role & Responsibilities Reporting into the Micro & Compliance Leader, you will be part of a small team, whose remit is to ensure to Microbiological Safety of our products at all times. Carrying out Microbiological analysis of samples from Raw materials through to Finished Goods, ensuring all out of spec results are retested, and actioned. Scheduled analysis of air, water etc used within the factory processes, and laboratory environmental monitoring Set up, reading, and training of the lab s rapid Yeast & Mould detection system, and species identification system. Work Cross–functionally with Chemistry lab and Production/ Process departments when out of spec results are encountered, and prompting & supporting Quality investigations/ Root cause analysis Isolation of sub–standard materials/ finished goods to ensure only the highest Quality product enters the consumer market, closing the loop from hold/ isolation through to disposal/ release Provides expertise during microbiological investigations, supporting the factory by being a part of the problem solving team Ensuring all required information is entered onto SAP/ on paperwork, and filed to satisfy CLAS standards Conduct bench–practice internal audits, to meet CLAS requirements Perform Lab admin and housekeeping duties, including pipette and pH meter calibrations as required Provides Micro training to new starters, and coaches Operations on Micro related topics Aids in the validation and verification of new methods used within the laboratories Ensures Health & Safety requirements are met at all times, and actively contribute towards completion of the laboratory s H&S toolbox compliance.
